Book details

Martha Wilson received a bachelor's degree from Washington State University majoring in both elementary education and fine arts. She taught at Logos School in Moscow, Idaho from 1985-1991, studied Latin at New St. Andrew's College and the University of Idaho, and was the Latin teacher at Logos for her last three years there. She and her husband Jeff live in Georgetown, Kentucky with their seven children in an old house on a quiet street. Most summers they drive their big tan van across the prairies and mountains to the Northwest, visiting and sightseeing along the way. As befitting a mother of seven, she is somewhat of an expert on soups. Their family is part of the Georgetown Evangelical Free Church.

Look Inside the Teacher Edition

aquarium—aqua, water
fable—fabula, story
clamor—clamo, I shout
dolphin—delphinus, dolphin
narrator—narro, I tell

These and thousands of other words we use every day keep this "dead" language—a language of kings and poets, of scrolls and secrets—alive. And this means that when we study Latin, we're not just learning about Rome— we're learning about ourselves. Rediscover this time-honored language, which led classical education pioneer Dorothy Sayers to declare that "Latin should be begun as early as possible ... when the chanting of amo, amas, amat is as ritually agreeable to the feelings as the chanting of eeny, meeny, miney, moe."

In Latin Primer 2, Martha Wilson strengthens elementary school students (grades 4 and up) in the basics they discovered in Latin Primer 1, and leads them steadily into new territory. Revised and expanded, this text spotlights the fundamentals of classical Latin: vocabulary for everyday experiences like names of animals; verb and noun endings; adjective and adverb use; questions and commands; and other early grammar essentials.

The book package is the complete Latin Primer 2 (4th edition). It's everything you need to learn (or teach) your second year of beginning Latin.

Please note: We have removed the flash cards from the homeschool package—because they will be available for free download here, here, and here. If you want to save yourself the hassle of printing them, you can buy them from us. We're leaving it up to you.

Great Curriculum

This curriculum makes Latin easy to teach and learn. Doing things the way the teacher’s manual suggest with introducing new words and giving the derivatives the first day and then doing the chant and quotation the next and then having my daughter do the worksheet the next day and the quiz the following day works out great with our school schedule. It’s easy to follow and very manageable. It doesn’t take an excess amount of time to get through which makes it enjoyable. The way this curriculum is laid out makes retaining the information that is learned stick.

Great Latin curriculum. The teacher manual walks you through the lessons with your child. Goes great with the Canon+ app which has the lessons too. Love the exercises and quizzes, we are learning a lot easily and in a fun way.
